I am at Greene Elementary school with Mrs. Vest’s 1 st grade class. All pictures are from Mrs. Vest’s classroom. INTRODUCTION

Providing students physical and psychological security. Making the classroom feel like a “home” and a safe environment. SECURITY AND SHELTER In my classroom there were a lot of personal pictures, welcome signs, posters and an indoor plant that made the whole room feel cozy. All of the students are able to feel at home and welcomed in the classroom.

Closeness at the tables, which is teacher directed. Strategic classroom set-up. SOCIAL CONTACT The teacher has the room set up by tables, in a square shape, with the middle open to avoid traffic jams. There are assigned seating at each table and a round table in the back, where the teacher works one-on- one with her students.

Things that symbolize the teacher and students. Classroom displays incorporate everyone. SYMBOLIC IDENTIFICATION There is a section in the back of the room that has each student’s picture displayed on top of their book bag hook. There are multiple pictures of each child featured around the room. Also, the teacher has a section on the wall to display the student’s artwork.

Where things are and what students do at each station. Students know where things are and where they have to go. TASK INSTRUMENTALITY There is a homework mailbox, where the kids can drop off their work or take it home. When the children partake in stations, there are specific instructions at each table and the students know where to find and place their work when they are done.

The classroom setting is attractive and aesthetically pleasing. PLEASURE My teacher has taken her time to decorate and make her classroom very comfortable for her students. She has a pink rocking chair and has added a curtain to hide materials in the back. By adding a pop of color has made her room come to life and the children enjoy coming to class.

A learning-enriched environment, equipped with materials and resources that encourages intellectual growth and development. GROWTH There is an updaated word wall that gives the students a reference to information they have already learned. Also, there is a behavioral chart to help the children stay on task and be rewarded for good behavior.

THE END
