WHAT CAN WOMEN’s GROUPS DO Role of women’s organisations and institutions for HIV prevention

R OLE OF SHG GROUPS Talk to women regularly about prevention during group meetings Setting up structures within the group for counselling young girls, young brides to be, mothers etc. Pre-marriage counselling Support fund for infected and affected families Community care

R OLE OF AWW/ANM/LHV Talk to women about nutrition Talk to women about checking and testing – especially about STIs Talk to women about condom use with their male partners Attend SHG meetings Talk to pregnant women about testing Give information on Testing centers, ART centers, PPTCT services etc.

R OLE OF CDPO/PO ICDS Ensure training on HIV for your staff Hold regular meetings to discuss incidence of HIV in the districts During regular meetings bring up issues of marriage at young age, testing, STI treatment etc. Be aware of the HIV prevention and treatment facilities in your district/block Network with organisations working for HIV Prevention and Treatment in your district/block
