2 The Bald Eagle *Chosen as the national bird in *Found only in North America. *The soaring effect makes us think of freedom. *Protected by law because it is endangered.

3 Uncle Sam *Known as “I Want You for the U.S. Army” poster *Actual name is Samuel Wilson *Worked for the U.S. government during the war stamping crates of meat with initials “U.S”

4 Presidential Seal *It has an olive branch in one talon that stands for peace. *It has 13 arrows in the left talon. *It is surrounded by 50 stars. *It can be found on the ceiling of the oval office.

5 The United States Flag *It has 13 stripes, starting and ending with red. *It has 50 white stars on a background of blue. *Betsy Ross made the first flag. *The 13 stripes stand for the first colonies. *You must always stand and salute the flag as it goes by.

6 The Liberty Bell *It stands for independence. *In 1776 it rang to let people know that the Declaration of Independence was signed. *It now has a crack in it and is rung no more.

7 The Statue of Liberty *In 1884 France gave us this statue. *It stands for Freedom and opportunity to people that come to our country. *It is New York Harbor.
