Job Description As a SLP you work with people who need to learn speech development; help prevent disorders related to speech, and fluency. Help people with stutters as well and pitch problems. They work in clean environments, usually a school or at the person’s house.

Salary in Maryland and other States  Salary: $44,475-$62,124  Bonus: $ $2,503  Total pay: $49,959-$74,252  According to bls.gov  Industries average Pay scale  Nursing care Facilities: $79,120  Home Health Care Services: $77,030  General Medical and Surgical Hospitals: $68,430  Offices of Other Health Practitioners: $67,910  Elementary and Secondary Schools: $58,140  Average Teacher salary in the nation is $52,308

Education Needed Must have a Masters Degree in Speech-Language pathology Speech Pathologists working in schools must be licensed Must pass the Praxis Exam in Speech Pathology to get license 300 to 375 hours of supervised clinical practice Nine months of clinical experience after graduation

Job Outlook Speech-language pathology is expected to grow in the next couple years. It is now mandatory that all new born babies are tested for hearing loss problems so they can get the right services early in age. Because of the early identification of deafness, speech language, swallowing, hearing related issues, etc. the employment of a speech pathology will go up.
