Cohesion and Adhesion Root pressure

 Transpiration: evaporation from the leaves creates a pull that draws water up through the stem.

 Gravity: food from photosynthesis is pulled down to nourish the plant.

 cohesion: water and minerals cling to each other.

 adhesion: water molecules cling to the walls of xylem. This causes tension that forces water and nutrients to rise up the stem.

 root pressure: pushes water and minerals up.
