CONTRACTORS STATE LICENSE BOARD URGES USING THESE STEPS Don’t be misled by unlicensed contractors who give a business or handyman's license number All licensed Contractors must carry their current CSLB pocket license card at all times Ask for photo ID to match to card - License has only 6 #s Always use a Licensed, Bonded & Insured Contractor Deposit must be $1000 or 10%, whichever is less Don’t pay cash and only pay for % of work completed Use CSLB ‘Instant License Check’- takes 1 minute Contractor must provide detailed Contract with allowances for products

BEST ADVICE Use a contractor with lots of experience with flips, rentals and personal residences Always Take Notes! Ask for referrals and visit completed jobs Estimate should be revisable Get thorough bid with most items included Use Confident Contractor that can do anything Include a Contingency on contract 5-10%

CLIENT SHOULD Schedule Estimate ASAP Change Locks, Secure Property Leave lights & radio on, talk to neighbors Leave utilities on Communicate Finish given punch list and be punctual to keep job on schedule Respect Contract and Contractor

CONTRACTOR SHOULD Protect you and your property Keep you informed of progress & return calls Be punctual or call & Keep Jobsite Clean Have all needed subcontractors if needed Take time to meet with you to select products Have several multiple job clients Be confident and knowledgeable A Busy Contractor is a Good Sign
