1. Questions to Ask Before you Move Out and Signing the Lease

2. Questions  How long is the lease?  How much does this apartment cost?  Does this apartment have parking? How many spots?  What type of heat is used?  How old is the building?  Do you have any specials/rebates

3. Questions  Are utilities included in the rent? Which ones?  Do we have to pay a security deposit? How much?  How much storage is available?  Is there air conditioning?  What is the average electricity bill?  Do I need to pay a key deposit?

4. Questions  Can I have pets?  How much of the deposit do people typically get back?  Is there an application fee?  How does one go about getting repairs?  How long do people typically live here?

5. Before you Sign the Lease  You should check the apartment thoroughly  Check the toilets and water pressure of sinks and showers  Check the lights, walls and locks  Check the smoke detector and fire exits  Check the heat/air conditioning  Inspect floors for stains, spots, wear or cuts

6. Before you Sign the Lease  Write down any chips, holes, repairs or mold on anything  CHECK AND WRITE DOWN EVERY INCH OF THE APARTMENT!!!!!!!  Do the walk through with the landlord, but ALWAYS ask for an extra day to look around  When moving out ALWAYS do the walk through with the landlord or you will probably be charged for things that you didn’t do
