South Carolina Regions The Blue Ridge Mountains

The Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina are a part of a bigger mountain range in the United States. The mountain range is called the Appalachain Mountains and they run from Alabama, up through the eastern states, and into Canada. What is the other mountain range in the United States?

342 Million Years Old!! The Appalachian Mountains, the oldest mountain chain in America, were formed about 342 million years ago. I don’t have enough candles for this cake!

South Carolina’s Highest Point Sassafras Mountain

Smallest Region in the State The Blue Ridge Mountain Region is the northwest edge of the state. It is the smallest region in South Carolina.

Rainforest in South Carolina?? You don’t have to travel to South America to visit the rainforest. We have our very own rainforest in South Carolina. It is located in the Blue Ridge Mountain Region and gets 70 – 80 inches of rain each year! That is more than any other place on the east coast!

This region is known for its waterfalls and fast moving rivers. The Chattooga River A favorite river for whitewater rafting and kayaking.
