Ohio Social Studies Standards Web-Sites and Activities for Grades 3-5

INTRODUCTION Integrating technology into the curriculum aides in addressing all learning styles. This presentation will highlight 5 web sites and activities for each strand from the Ohio Social Studies Model. Students will be able to use these web sites and activities to enhance their knowledge and comprehension of Social Studies.

Web-Site Time Travelers Activity Students can recreate the Ohio Village and invite parents and grandparents to visit and share stories about life when they were young.

AMERICAN HERITAGE Web-Site Ohio History ohc/ Activity Students can participate in one of the field trips to learn about pioneer life in Ohio.

AMERICAN HERITAGE Web-Site American Memory Activity Today in history section can be used to find out important facts about any date from the past.

Web-Site Do Something Activity Students can enter poetry and art contest about what community means to them.

CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Web-Site Government Activity Through this site students can read the full Constitution and examine their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Web-Site Youth Link Activity Students can log onto this site and help build the countries National Youth Platform by providing what they feel are top issues affecting young people.

CONCLUSION The integration of technology helps to address multiple learning styles. These web-sites and activities will help meet the ultimate goal of the Ohio Social Studies Model by enhancing the quality of Social Studies learning.
