Accommodation & Hospitality Services PEEPPEEP ersonal mergency vacuation lan Remember, not all disabilities are visible or obvious. Familiarise yourself with the PEEPs in your area – In an emergency, you may be needed to assist others. Where an employer or a service provider does not make provision for the safe evacuation of disabled people from its premises, this may be viewed as discrimination. It may also constitute a failure to comply with the requirements of the fire safety legislation mentioned above. Requiring that employers or organisations providing services to the public, take responsibility for ensuring that all people, including disabled people, can leave the building they control safely in the event of a fire. Under current legislation - provide a fire safety risk assessment which must include an emergency evacuation plan for all people likely to be in the premises, including disabled people, and how that plan will be implemented.

Accommodation & Hospitality Services In the event of a fire…Do you know… WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? Where is the nearest alarm? How do I raise the alarm? What does the fire alarm sound like? Where is my nearest fire exit? Where is the assembly point? Is there a general and/or specific PEEP in my building? If you answer ‘’No’’ to any of these questions, ask your supervisor Knowing the answer could save a life

Accommodation & Hospitality Services Questions What components make up the fire triangle? How is a fire put out? Name three things you can do to help prevent fires True or False: It is sometimes ok to keep a fire door open using an extinguisher?
