Green Lighting: By The Numbers 10 percent: The percentage of global electricity saved by switching to entirely efficient lighting systems, according to a report published by the International Energy Agency (IEA). The carbon dioxide emissions saved by such a switch would dwarf cuts so far achieved by adopting wind and solar power. 19 percent: The percentage of global electricity generation taken for lighting-- that's more than is produced by hydro or nuclear stations, and about the same that's produced from natural gas." 40 percent: the increase in sales in stores with good natural light. (the Heschong Mahone Group) percent: The percentage of total requirements to receive a LEED Silver rating, that builders can achieve through the use of daylighting in their design. 2.5 million: The number of homes that could be lit from the energy saved if every American replacing one light bulb with an Energy Star rated one; this action would also prevent emissions of greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars."

Civil Engineering Formulas Essential civil engineering formulas and equations in one easy-to-use portable reference Formulas, tables, and graphs presented in SI and US unit formats Each chapter includes collections of problems and calculations with solution advice More than 150 new pages offered with number one topics included / Nov 09 / 49.95

Facility Piping System Handbook 3ed Fully up-to-date with the latest codes and standards, this practical resource contains everything you need to plan, select, design, specify, and test piping systems for industry, commercial, and institutional applications. The book includes complete coverage of pipes, fittings, valves, jointing methods, hangers, supports, pumps, tanks, and other required equipment / Oct 09 /

Piping Systems Manual / Oct 09 / Readers will have at their disposal a single reference book that contains the data needed to design piping systems Understand why things are done a certain way Engineers faced with deadlines and budgets do not have time for theory Liberal examples introduce topics, to make them appear to be more practical than theoretical Liberal tables and charts permit the reader to find information quickly A section is devoted to writing specifications, since this is one area of engineering that has suffered too long without the necessary attention

Heat Transfer in Process Engineering / Sept 09 / Heat transfer is one of the most important aspects of the chemical process industry A professional reference for chemical process engineers and system designers; also useful as a graduate- level text in unit operation and heat transfer courses in the chemical engineering curriculum

Smart Process Plants / Nov 09 / Maximize plant profitability by minimizing operating costs. Methods for calculating the value of the information produced are included. The book discusses optimal instrumentation type, quality, precision, and location along with preventive maintenance techniques. Practical examples throughout the book demonstrate how to perform essential calculations

Remote Sensing and GIS Integration / Nov 09 / GIS scientists can learn how to interpret different types of remotely sensed data and integrate the data into information systems Remote sensing engineers can learn how to utilize GIS to process acquired data Non-specialists can master the fundamentals of GIS and remote sensing Practitioners can exercise their knowledge through varieties of application examples and case studies
