2 John 5:1-6 (MSG) Soon another Feast came around and Jesus was back in Jerusalem. Near the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem there was a pool, in Hebrew called Bethesda, with five alcoves.

3 John 5:1-6 (MSG) Hundreds of sick people—blind, crippled, paralyzed—were in these alcoves. One man had been an invalid there for thirty- eight years.

4 John 5:1-6 (MSG) When Jesus saw him stretched out by the pool and knew how long he had been there, he said, "Do you want to get well?"

7 John 5:5-7 (NIV) 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

8 John 5:5-7 (NIV) 7 “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

10 John 4:7-10 (NIV) 8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath,

12 John 5:14 (MSG) 14 A little later Jesus found him in the Temple and said, "You look wonderful! You're well! Don't return to a sinning life or something worse might happen."

14 John 5:16-17 (NIV) 16 So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. 17 In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”
