Developing a Disciple’s Heart Part 3

Hebrews 4:14 (MSG) 14 Now that we know what we have— Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let's not let it slip through our fingers.

Hebrews 4:15 (MSG) 15 We don't have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He's been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin.

Hebrews 4:16 (MSG) 16 So let's walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.

Hebrews 10:21 (NIV) 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

Developing a Disciple’s Heart 1....sympathizes with us.

Hebrews 4:15 (NIV) 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.

Hebrews 4:16 (NIV) 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Developing a Disciple’s Heart 2.... is our model for life and ministry.

Developing a Disciple’s Heart a. See like he sees.

Matthew 9:36 (NIV) 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Developing a Disciple’s Heart b. Think like He thinks.

Philippians 2:5 (NIV) 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Developing a Disciple’s Heart c. Serve like He serves.

Mark 10:45 (NIV) 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Developing a Disciple’s Heart d. Love like He loved.

John 13:34 (NIV) 34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

Developing a Disciple’s Heart d.... has made a way that we can now be heavenly.

1 Corinthians 15:48 (NIV) 48 The First Man was made out of earth, and people since then are earthy; the Second Man was made out of heaven, and people now can be heavenly.

1 Corinthians 15:49 (NIV) 49 In the same way that we've worked from our earthy origins, let's embrace our heavenly ends.
