The definition of the meter has become more and more precise through the years since, even though its length has not changed. Currently the meter is the distance light travels in a vacuum in 1/ second.

Metric System One meter is equal to 1.09 yards or inches.

Metric System One kilogram is equivalent to the mass of a liter of water. One kilogram is equal to 1,000 grams or 2.2 pounds.

Metric System The second is defined as the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium-133 atom at zero degrees kelvin. One second is equal to 1/60 of a minute. A minute is 1/60 of a hour.
