PETROGRAPHY - PURPOSE Enhance field studies and core descriptions: –Identification of constituent grains –Detailed classification of reservoir rocks –Interpretation of depositional environments Diagenesis –Timing of significant diagenetic events (i.e., cementation or secondary porosity development relative to the emplacement of hydrocarbons)
