Ketso is a hands-on kit for creative groupwork
‘Ketso’ means action in Lesotho, where it was invented by Dr. Joanne Tippett in 1995
Invented because women didn’t tend to speak in mixed gender groups
Ketso was used in Southern Africa to help communities change this...
…to this: sustainable living
Then in my PhD research at the University of Manchester, to change this….
... to this, receiving £1.7 million of regeneration funding to implement community plan.
Since its launch in 2009, Ketso has been used in a range of contexts: research with 200 Tesco staff
… to engaging with stakeholders of all ages and backgrounds in health related issues
… to teaching and learning at all levels
..to engagement in Jordan, Peru, Rwanda, UK, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Russia, Palestine, Iceland

Write / draw on leaves, using the pens provided so the leaves can be reused!
1 idea per leaf, write so others can read
Coloured leaves for different questions (write on the coloured side)
Time on your own to develop ideas, think then share
You will have about 10 minutes for each stage
We will introduce each stage, passing around the new leaf colour and with the bell
Keeping things moving At the first bell whoever is speaking has a moment to finish what they are saying Second bell – time for quiet (so we can get finished on time)
