January 2014 – Eden Valley Bushfire Over 26,000 hectares of farm land was burnt

130 Farms 5 homes Many livelihoods were devastated

Hi Mum and Dad Before I get started on paperwork tonight, I just need you both to know stuff. I am feeling gutted at the moment for the both of you. I know how incredibly hard both of you have worked, blood, sweat and tears, over the last 27 years or so to get “The Farm” to where it was 5 days ago.

I can only imagine how you both feel and then it would only be the tip of the iceberg. I am so sorry that this catastrophe has been borne upon you, you are the last people on earth that need to be kicked in the guts like this.

I can’t say this on the phone or to you face to face because I know I’ll end up in tears, like I am now. I am so proud of you both and all that you have strived for and achieved in my lifetime let alone yours.

You have provided for all of us without question and then some. You do not deserve to have nearly all of it stripped from you. Exhausted Country Fire Service Volunteers
