Water Survey Methodology Started with valves >= 16” Worked with water locate and maintenance crews to properly locate and verify infrastructure. Attempted GPS at all valve sites. If not possible then set temporary control points for utilization with the Total Station.

Real World Application Concrete pads were placed around these valves for quick emergency location. Utilized survey information to update transmission main alignment. Used to help calibrate and tune new model for utilization in the 5 year master plan.

Sanitary Sewer Survey Methodology Query lines >= 12” that are missing invert/elevation information. Selected manholes that intersect the line subset. Created Priority Target list  Line intersection count > 2  Weighted based upon proximity to headworks facility  Only Cedar Creek and Indian Creek basins

Survey Methodology Used the aerial to superficially evaluate need for Total Station or GPS based upon tree cover. MH Survey involved  Shoot the center of MH cover  Pop the lid  Use a philly rod to measure approximate invert to.1”  Verify MH materials and type (drop, standard…)

Real World Application Directly updates missing data components necessary for accurately producing new 5 year master plan. Updates line features to better reflect measurements taken by CCTV inspection crews. Ties directly into our flow monitoring program and I&I prevention workflow.

Next Steps Acquire handheld GPS units for mapping grade data collection Actually receive the previously mentioned CCTV data Receive data from new sanitary sewer manhole inspection forms being established with the 5 year master plan.
