Welcome to YOUTH FOR CHRIST

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 …Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. New Living Translation

We should “Let Love Rule” in our lives and show love to other people because we know how much God loves us It’s not easy to love other people, but it doesn’t excuse us from doing it We are called to “love our neighbor,” meaning anyone and everyone we come into contact with.

John 13:34-35 “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” New Living Translation

Jesus is not asking us to do anything impossible. Jesus experienced all the difficulties that we do, and He followed the will of God and He never sinned. We will face many temptations to do our own thing instead of following God’s will, but we can overcome them with God’s help.

Matthew 4:1-4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” New Living Translation

Matthew 4:5-7 Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’” New Living Translation

Matthew 4:8-11 Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.” “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus. New Living Translation

Jesus had been alone and fasting (not eating in order to focus totally on God) for 40 days. How would you feel after that? Now imagine being at your weakest point and then being faced with temptation. How would you respond? By following God’s Word we can fight against temptation even in our weakest moments.

Following God’s will is not easy, and the devil tries to distract us in any way we can. We need to follow Jesus’ example and depend on God for strength and guidance to overcome temptations and live for God.
