Rule: Reading a Decimal Number less than one Read the number. Say the place value with a “th” at the end. 0.6 = six tenths 0.28 = twenty eight hundredths 0. 116 = one hundred sixteen thousandths

Rule: Reading a Decimal Number greater than one Read the whole number to the left of the decimal point and “say” and for the decimal point and follow the steps for reading a decimal number less than one. 1.36 = one and thirty-six hundredths
