Why??  Popular Accounting Firm  Heard of him by word of mouth.

About Him  Originally wanted to be surgeon.  Professor suggested accounting classes.  Graduated With Masters in Accounting  Joined Athur Andersen Firm in 1978

Arthur Andersen  United States’ largest accounting firm in 1978  Mike Gordon left in 1983  Before the scandals  Firm showed him the ropes of CPA

Not Your Basic Bean Counter  Started firm in 1993  2 nd largest in town

Motivation  Understands the “grunt” work  Knows what employees need  Personally pays for massage therapist during tax season.  Wife is a baker, brings food every Thursday

Motivation  Allows employees to attend family events through the week.  Doesn’t force you to stay at work 5 days a week.  Work 3 days a week, just get the job done  Holds parties throughout the year.

Job vs. Career  Job  Work, manual labor, place you’re unwilling to work  Career  Love your profession, satisfaction, sky’s the limit, work willingly  Know when your career is beginning to become a job.

“Get out what you put in”  If you’re tired of being on the bottom, put in more time.  Study Up  Understand the business

Be Here  Try to be the best at your occupation.  Competition is good  Nobody likes being on the bottom
