Tallinn University of Technology (TUT)

History 1918 On September 17, Tallinn University of Technology is established. Programs were offered in mechanical, electrical, civil and hydraulic engineering, architecture and shipbuilding TUT is given the rights of a university – by the 15 September 1936 Act of the Head of State, the school was named Tallinn Technical Institute with three faculties: civil engineering; chemistry; and mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering technology and TUT is called Tallinn Polytechnic Institute 1989 the name Tallinn University of Technology is restored

Student activities There are outstanding amateur art activities collectives working in the university: Academical Male Chorus, Academical Female Chorus, Chamber Chorus, Alumni Female Chorus, folk-dance group "Kuljus", brass band and student theatre. Besides amateur art activities collectives there are several other associations working in TUT such as Photography Club, student's paper "Studioosus", which is modified to virtual form by tipikas.ee team. Most essential are autumn and spring student days, but also the "Teklikampaania", "Rebastepäev" and minifair, bicycle tour, competition "Miss TUT" and certainly celebrating the Estonia's Independence Day by student's march up to Toompea.

International students There are more than 100 exchange students coming every semester to study at Tallinn University of Technology. Initially planning to come for one semester, many of them fall in love with medieval Tallinn and decide to stay longer. Moreover, after getting the Degree from their home universities, some students come back to TUT to continue with their further studies on Master's or PhD level. Our international students and alumni of international degree programmes come from over 60 countries.

Kuressaare College of Tallinn University of Technology are-kolledz/

History Geographically, Kuressaare College, founded on the island of Saaremaa in 1999, is the remotest and smallest of the four colleges of Tallinn University of Technology. The predecessor of the college was the Institute for Islands Development, founded in January 1991.

Nowadays Nowadays, Kuressaare College is an integrated part of Tallinn University of Technology with its own board, curricula and students. College has about 200 undergraduate students and a staff of almost 20 people.

Mission The mission of the College is to train specialists in the fields needed first of all on Estonian islands: small business management and especially tourism and restaurant management, also engineering including electronics and IT technology. After 3-4 years of studies the graduates get the diploma of Tallinn University of Technology. The modern learning environment and new opportunities have brought here young people from all over Estonia.
