Intro: The Byron Carlyle Theater The Byron Carlyle Theater is a small community theater. It was constructed in December of 1968 to serve as the only running cinema in North Miami Beach. By the mid 70’s, the theater was re-developed into a multiplex cinema (miamibeachculture.com, accessed 8/31/2010). This building is in a commercial zoning area surrounded by ethnic restaurants, busy shops, and newly constructed luxury hotels. The front façade has a curvilinear shape to it contrasting with the rectangular forms adjacent to the center. The left and right sides are covered with stucco, while the center wall coverings of the façade have tile. In 2001 the venue was completed 10 months after it’s initial refurbishing proposal. The theater was later converted into a performing arts center due to the growing demand. The theater area measures 1250 square feet with a mezzanine measuring 625 square feet. It is approximately feet in height. It houses a 152 seat orchestra, 138 seat mezzanine; 8 seats are wheel chair accessible with 6 accompanying seats. The entire theater is now ADA accessible. Meant to serve as a performing arts venue in the center of a commercial zoning area Hosts dance Theater Music Film lectures Meetings

Program Space Descriptions At the Black Rhino guests are supposed to enjoy the versatile ambiance of the space. It is meant to express feelings of sumptuousness when needed but also express casualty. The guests need different spaces to eat; the seating arrangement of the area and the privacy may vary. They should have the option of sitting in a lounging area, or if they choose in the fine dinning area. They can also sit at the bar located on the mezzanine. Guests also need a communal space to socialize in; whether it is a business setting, a social gathering, or dinner for two. There should be one general area for casual dinning beside a more private area for couples or for a large party. Beside that, the mezzanine is a semi-private area above the general area meant for private and/or public lounging. There needs to be a balance between casual and fine dining. The quality of the restaurant is very important. It needs high quality materials; however, some of the material need to read as casual. It needs to cater to the current population, but also needs to cater to the up and coming more wealthy population.
