UNIT 1: LINEAR EQUATIONS & INEQUALITIES – THE POETRY AND PROSE OF ALGEBRA SEC 4: Compound Inequalities

Review: Quality Core Question

Ex 1: Quality Core Question

Compound Inequality  Consist of a pair of inequalities joined by and or or.  Examples:  -1 < x and x < 3, or could be wrote as -1< x < 3  x 3

Ex 2: Compound Inequality Containing And  Graph and Check the solution of  3x – 1 > -28 and 2x + 7 < 19  Graph and Check the solution of  -5 ≤ 2x – 1 < 3

Ex 3: Compound Inequality containing Or  Graph and Check the solution of  4x – 2 > 14 or 3x – 4 < - 13  Graph and Check the solution of  3x + 9 < - 3 or -2x + 1 < 5

Ex 4: Dirty Jobs  Between 15,000 yd 3 and 16,000 yd 3 of earth must be trucked away from a construction site. The trucks can remove 1000 yd 3 per day, and 10,500 yd 3 has already been removed. How many days are needed?
