Where are we? What are we strong at? Where can we grow?

Spiral of Inquiry What’s going on for our learners? How do we know? Why does it matter? Halbert & Kaser 2012

New Professional Learning How and where will we learn more about what to do?

Taking Action What will we do differently?

Checking How will we check that we made enough of a difference?

Criteria for Inquiry Questions Questions are always based on the experiences of the learners: What’s going on for your learners? How do you know? Why does it matter?

Criteria for Inquiry Questions you care about it it is strength-based, it is optimistic (it is fun to think and learn about) it focuses on your classroom practice it is within your control it is important: it would make a difference you can do it: it is manageable and possible, you will be able to observe/find evidence it is honest: it is a real question it will lead to action it makes a difference

Say Something … following the focus group, take a few minutes, turn to the person next to you and respond to something you have heard a connection you made something you would like to hold onto something that made you think differently

Inquiry Question Debriefing Collaborative inquiry teams report out the following: What is your inquiry question? What did you do/try? What did you notice? What next?

Collaborative Inquiry in SD 10 Some short stories of inquiry
