CAT IN THE HAT By Dr. Seuss Inspired by

It was wet and cold on a Saturday afternoon. Sally and I sat by the window, wishing we had something fun to do. Suddenly, there was a loud bump that made us jump! “What was that?” Sally said.

The door opened and in came The Cat in the Hat. “Well, hello there! The sky may be gray, but there are many games that we could play!” said the cat. “No, No, No! Go away! You should not stay when mum is away!” shouted the fish from the tank.

“Don’t be afraid because we get to play. ” said the cat “Don’t be afraid because we get to play!” said the cat. It took the tank in one hand and tried to make the other books stand. Then it put a cake on its hat and hopped onto a ball. The fish was not having fun at all. Before long, the cat slipped and fell. The cake was on the floor and the fish as well.

“Don’t worry. I have another trick to share. ” said the cat “Don’t worry! I have another trick to share!” said the cat. He ran back into the room with a huge box but all the fish gave him was an angry stare. The cat took away the locks and two things came running out of the box. “I call them Thing One and Thing Two,” said the cat with excitement.

Before we knew it, those things ran down the hall with their string of kites. They took mum’s new gown and things doesn’t look quite right. Then suddenly, the fish shouted “Oh no, your mum is coming back! You better put her new gown back onto the rack!”

I caught the two things with my net but we were left with a mess that was not cleaned yet. Suddenly, came the cat in the hat with something that helped us cleared the mess. Mum entered the room. By then, the room was cleaned and the cat had hid. “Should we tell mum about what we did?” Sally whispered to me.
