Your $ - Your Life Day 1

Decisions, Decisions !!! As you work through this unit, imagine that you’re 28 years old. Each day you will make decisions about how you will spend your money. As in the real world, some things are out of your control (Taxes – $ Surprises).

WHAT DO I WANT TO BE? Your choice of careers – and how hard you work – can be the difference between earning $20,000 or $200,000 a year. Let’s take a look at what goes into choosing a career.

LET’S GO TO WORK One way to find a job is to look in the local newspaper for listings in the classified ads.

Herald Journal Classified Ads: Go to Mrs. Kendall’s webpage: Herald Journal -- Classifieds -- Jobs Browse through the different jobs. Record the name of (2) jobs and list (3) things the ad tells about the jobs listed.

Utah Futures: Go to Mrs. Myers Webpage: Utah Futures Browse Utah Futures Occupations & Jobs Occupations Index Click on any of the letters at the top to find careers alphabetically. Explore the site and find information about two careers you might be interested in. Complete the table for 2 careers.

WHAT KIND OF STUDENT ARE YOU? EXCELLENT: I make top grades, and know how to study. GOOD: I have “B” grades through hard work. SO-SO: I’m passing with “C” grades. POOR: I’m not passing all of my classes. Record the type of student that you are.
