How Plants Live and Grow What Do Roots, Stems, and Leaves Do?

ROOTS Grow down into the soil. Hold plants tightly in the ground. Take water and minerals from the soil. Root

STEMS They hold up leaves, flowers , and fruit of a plant. Carry the water and minerals from the roots to the rest of the plant. Also carry sugars. Stem

LEAVES Are in charge of making sugar for the plant. Take Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and release Oxygen. Leaf

WHAT DOES A PLANT NEED FOR LIVING? Light: they use it to produce sugar. Water Minerals: nonliving material found in the soil.
