Advocates for World Wellness Improving the Health of Mothers and their Children in the Developing World

Q.What is “Advocates for World Wellness”? A.A fundraising effort to benefit the UNICEF – United States Fund, organized by self- advocates and their supporters from the Hudson Valley Region of SANYS. Q. What is the UNICEF United States Fund? A. It is the local arm of the United Nations Children’s Defense Fund

UNICEF began its lifesaving work fighting preventable child deaths in 1946 and over the last 60 years, UNICEF and its partners have helped cut the worldwide child mortality rate by more than half.

More than 20% of the diseases in children below the age of 5 are related to poor maternal health and nutrition, as well as the quality of care at delivery and during the newborn period. Access to skilled care during pregnancy, childbirth and the first month after delivery is key to saving these women's lives – and those of their children.

UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more.

How can you help? – STARTING TODAY, Join with other self-advocates and collect money to help the UNICEF United States Fund. – Ask self-advocates, staff, family and friends to donate whatever they can. – Let’s set a minimum goal of $100 from each self- advocacy group!

Each self-advocacy group that participates will be advised of their monthly status through the donation period, July 31, 2015 through October 2, The self-advocacy group that raises the most funds will be presented with a plaque honoring their achievement at our Hudson Valley Regional Self-Advocacy Picnic on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Croton Point Park in Westchester!

Why? To raise money for an important and worthy cause! To show everyone that self-advocates can join together on one task and make a real difference in this world!

LET’S START TODAY!
