Functions of Bones  Early animals lived in the ocean.  Ocean(salt water) has minerals that animals need to out carry life functions.  To move into fresh water or onto land, animals needed a way to store the minerals they need.  A skeleton was a method of storing minerals allowing animals to move into freshwater and onto land.
