QuinceañERA presentation by: Malik Miller and Nayquan Raveneau

What is a quinceañera? A Quinceañera is a celebration for a fifteen year old girl. Quinceañeras are usually celebrated for Spanish families . It is usually a dinner and dance festival, marking her passage into adulthood. It can also involve a Mass at which she receives a ring from her parents, as a symbol of commitment to church and family.

Quinceañera dress The Quinceañera dress signifies the girl becoming a woman. Quinceañera dresses are very known for women of Latin America, who have parties such as these.

Quinceañera party

The ceremony The Quinceañera tradition dates back more than 600 years when the Aztec and Maya cultures celebrated the time when a young girl became eligible to marry, have children, and handle the responsibilities of the women in her community.

What we think about Spanish tradition Malik: I think that the Spanish tradition is a great cultural thing that families do and pass on. Nayquan: I think Spanish tradition is great because of the food they eat and how they came up with the quinceanera on the fifteenth, and the waltz dance.
