What Are We Doing Here??

Jeremiah 8:11–12 [The preachers] dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. “Peace, peace,” they say, when there is no peace. Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush.

So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says the Lord.

The primary purpose of the church is to glorify God.

Mission Includes: Destiny, a purpose for which one is destined; or calling. a Sender, a duty on which someone is sent as a representative

Mission Includes: Destiny a Sender Authority, sent out with authority to perform a special duty. Distinction, a special purpose unique from others.

The Purpose of the Church is to: Worship God for His greatness –Worship Witness to the world of Jesus Christ – Evangelism Welcome believers into the church – Fellowship

The Purpose of the Church is to: Worship Evangelism Fellowship Live and teach obedience to Christ – Discipleship Work to meet needs in the church and the world – Ministry

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

1 Timothy 3:16 Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

1. Every lost person will be tormented forever in the Lake of Fire.

Luke 13:3 …unless you repent, you too will all perish.

Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day and night…

2. Those who receive Jesus Christ as savior will live forever in Heaven.

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

John 5:24 “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”

3. Lost people will not find Jesus on their own.

Romans 3:10-11 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.”

4. Christians have a responsibility to do all they can to reach the lost.

Acts 26:18 ‘to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

5. God enables us to share Jesus with others.

Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

6. Time is short.

7. God is good.

Revelation 14:13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them."
