GSDI Permanent Secretariat u Permanent Secretariat was endorsed by Steering Committee at GSDI 4 - GSDI Conference support remained a role of the host nation u FGDC has provided interim Permanent Secretariat support u Due to Staffing limitations some activities have been delayed

Program Plan u A GSDI Program Plan was developed in fall of 2000 u Plan identified a number of actions for Secretariat, and others u Progress has been made, some actions are not completed u Permanent Secretariat guides the actions identified in the Pan

Status u SDI Survey –Started in 1998 and updated in 2000 –Plans are to continue to maintain and update the survey (Dr Onsrud will discuss in Session 7b) u Committee Membership Update –Former Steering Committee and Advisory Committee combined – 33 Members from 15 Nations and 10 Multinational organisations or companies

Status u Meetings and Teleconferences –Nov 1, 2000; Dec 1, 2000; Jan 24, 2001, April 25, 2001 u Outreach –GSDI Website - updated, Global Geosearch added –GSDI Newsletter - First Newsletter completed for GSDI 5 –GSDI Representation at Conferences - Secretariat and Steering Committee participated in 8 Conferences and conducted 5 training sessions
