Presentation transcript:

Characters in Lord of the Flies “[He] asked no names. He was intimidated by this uniformed superiority and the offhand authority in Merridew’s voice. He shrank to the other side of Ralph and busied himself with his glasses.”

Characters in Lord of the Flies “[He] crouched with his face a few inches away from this clue, then stared forward into the semi- darkness of the undergrowth. His sandy hair, considerably longer than it had been when they dropped in, was lighter now; and his bare back was a mass of dark freckles and peeling sunburn. A sharpened stick about five feet long trailed from his right hand….”

Characters in Lord of the Flies “He was old enough, twelve years and a few months, to have lost the prominent tummy of childhood; and not yet old enough for adolescence to have made him awkward. You could see now that he might make a boxer, as far as width and heaviness of shoulders went, but there was a mildness about his mouth and eyes that proclaimed no devil.”

Characters in Lord of the Flies “There was a slight, furtive boy whom no one knew, who kept to himself with an inner intensity of avoidance and secrecy.”

Characters in Lord of the Flies “He had followed them for a few yards and then stopped. He had stood frowning down at a pile of sand on the beach where somebody had been trying to build a little house or hut. Then he turned his back on this and walked into the forest with an air of purpose. He was a small, skinny boy, his chin pointed, and his eyes so bright they had deceived Ralph into thinking him delightfully gay and wicked.”

Revision Task Write a short paragraph describing the character and actions of each of these boys in ‘Lord of the Flies’. Be ready to share ideas with the class. –Jack –Roger –Ralph –Simon –Piggy
