EABIS Mission « A unique alliance of business schools, companies and other stakeholders, with the support of the European Union Commission, committed to integrating business in society issues into the heart of business theory and practice in Europe. » Launched by 15 founding partners at INSEAD (France) in July 2002 with a clear identity and mission:

Europe’s Reference Point Research and Knowledge Development EABIS has created the largest European network for interdisciplinary research to create a sound, accessible and business relevant body of knowledge on corporate responsibility – 80 institutional members and affiliated organisations in October 2007 Education and Learning EABIS continues to work collaboratively with consortia of academic institutions and companies to reshape education programmes to place corporate responsibility at the core of business education Collaboration, partnership and outreach EABIS is expanding a multi-stakeholder learning network to identify, develop and disseminate cutting edge knowledge above the competencies required by mainstream professionals on corporate responsibility

EABIS Pillars and Vehicles EABIS: A Unique Platform € 3+ million dedicated to new knowledge development & learning

Since 2004 EABIS has received 1.5 million Euros from its Founding Corporate Partners: IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Shell and Unilever. Through this funding it has launched a broad range of projects involving consortia of companies and business schools. A few examples include: CR and Good Practice in Stakeholder Engagement Strategic Management and CR CR and Market Valuation of Financial & Non-Financial Performance CR and A New Paradigm for the Bottom of the Pyramid The Changing Role of Government on CR Leadership Skills and Management Competencies for CR Curriculum Development and Teaching Cases on the Role of Business in Society Clusters of Innovation on CR Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and CR Investing Today to Improve Tomorrow I

EABIS has led 50% of the research projects on corporate responsibility funded by the EU Commission’s FP6 Research Framework Programme → 1.85 million Euros between 2004 and 2007 Investing Today to Improve Tomorrow II THE “CSR PLATFORM” PROJECT 13 partners + € 750k funding in Europe’s largest ever coordination action on corporate responsibility research THE “RESPONSE” PROJECT 10 partners + € 1.1m funding in a comprehensive study of societal and stakeholder demands on business organisations’ decisions and actions from a business strategy perspective
