How is glass made? Glass is made by heat and sand. To melt the sand to make glass, the furnace has to reach a temperature of approximately 3,600 degrees F (1,982 degrees C). Glass is made out of three minerals: Sand, Soda Ash, and Dolomite.

Minerals Sand: is a finely divided rock and minerals particles typically high in Silica. Soda Ash: Sodium, Carbonate; NaCo3 Dolomite: Calcium, Magnesium, Carbonate; CaMg

Pros and Cons Pros Cons Everyday use Cuts people Used to make cups Mirrors Screen of phones Cons Cuts people Fragile You can get burned when trying to make glass.

What is Glass Used For? Glass is used for hundreds of different products and tasks! Glass is used to make containers, create windows, and glasses to drink from. Almost one seventy five percent of glass in the United States is used for packaging .

Glass Comparison iPhone 4S Android Phone The glass used on this phone is Corning Gorilla Glass. The glass used on this phone is Tempered Glass.

Glass Comparison(ConT.) Corning Gorilla Glass Tempered Glass What is corning gorilla glass made of? It is made of aluminosilicate minerals. What is tempered glass made out of? It is made out of melted potassium nitrate.

Test Your knowledge! What are the 3 minerals used to make glass? What is the required temperature to heat the minerals to make glass? What is the element in Soda Ash? What glass is used in Android and iPhones?

Answers Sand, Soda Ash, Dolomite temperature of approximately 3,600 degrees F (1,982 degrees C). Sodium, Carbonate; NaCo3 Gorilla Glass and Tempered Glass
