Kindergarden From 3 – years. Voluntary – but most children go to kindergarden..

Pre-school class 6 years old Voluntary 98% of all children attend the pre- school year. Start learning to read and write.

Primary and lower secondary education ”Folkeskolen” Form 1- 9 Age 7 – 16

Folkeskolen (7-16) 88% of a year group attend public schools 11% attend private schools. 1% are taught at home.

Folkeskolen (7-16 years old) Normal class size is 20 pupils. All starts at 8 a.m. The younger pupils finish around 1 p.m. The older pupils finish around 3 p.m.

Folkeskolen (7-16 years) Teaching is based on the individual pupil’s interests, qualifications and needs.

Youth education programmes (from 16 years) Vocational education and training –26 % complete trainingprogrammes –2-5 years theoretical + practical training

Vocational education and training –Prepare for a career in a specific trade or industry.

Upper secundary 50 % General upper secundary education (general gymnasium) 14 % Commercial upper secundary education (commercial gymnasium) 6 % Technical upper secundary education (technical gymnasium)

To study at University You are paid from the Danish state to study (650 Euro pr. Month). You have to work to earn more money. You are an adult, and your parents don’t give you money!
