Syndromic Surveillance Configuring RPMS-EHR for Meaningful Use Resource Patient Management System

Training Objectives Perform at least one test of certified EHR technology’s capacity to provide electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies and follow-up submissions if the test is successful. Syndromic Surveillance

MU Measure Type of Measure: Attestation Syndromic Surveillance

Threshold Perform at least one test of certified EHR technology's capacity to provide electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies and follow-up submission if the test is successful. Public Health Agency = IHS Division of Epidemiology and Disease Prevention Syndromic Surveillance

RPMS Reporting Logic Measure Inclusions: COUNT: eligible providers HAVING: performed at least one test of the certified EHR technology’s capacity to submit electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies during the EHR reporting period AND HAVING: performed follow-up submission if the test was successful during the EHR reporting period Syndromic Surveillance

RPMS Reporting Logic Measure Exclusion: EPs who do not collect any reportable syndromic surveillance information on patients during the EHR reporting period are excluded from this measure. Where no public health agency exists that has the capacity to receive information electronically during the EHR reporting period, the provider may be excluded from this measure and will have to attest to this in separate documentation to CMS. Public Health Surveillance Participation in the IHS Influenza Awareness System (IIAS) – Regular data exports sent to the IHS Division of Epidemiology and Disease Prevention (DEDP) Install PCC Reports (APCL) Version 3.0 Patch 27 Sign up to receive an export file receipt notification A copy of the confirmation export file receipt will serve as the attestation of this measure for MU

To Set up Notification Find the Area - Service Unit - Facility (ASUFAC) code for your site at: st&num=38&newquery=1 (in the column titled ‘code’). st&num=38&newquery=1 Prepare an to the IHS Help Desk with the subject line: “Flu Illness and Lab Reporting System - export file Include in the body of the message: "Helpdesk - this request should be routed to the ILI Contact Request Support personnel. Please add the address(es): [list address(es)]to the list of users who automatically receive an after an export file is sent to the IHS Data Integration Service. I am requesting export file receipt notifications for the site [site name here] with ASUFAC code [ASUFAC code here].” Send the message.
