THE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE

 THE BIBLE IN ONE MINUTE!

 The Bible is divided into two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. These are further divided into “books.”  Books of the Bible are like smaller stories or chapters within one larger book, similar to a giant book of different fairytales, or a newspaper with many articles.  There are 73 books (total) in the Bible (Old and New Testament)  Using your handout “The Books of the Bible,” descramble the books that need descrambling! THE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE

 The Old Testament: collection of holy books written by the Hebrews during a period of 1000 years  “the Law,” “Torah,” “five books”  Genesis: creation, Adam & Eve, Cain & Able, Noah’s Ark, tower of Babel, God’s covenant with Adam  Exodus: Moses; 10 commandments  Leviticus: law and rituals of Hebrews  Numbers: laws and rituals  Deuteronomy: means “second law” – contains second version of covenant God revealed through Moses; more laws & rituals WHAT THE BIBLE CONTAINS: THE OLD TESTAMENT
