VCCTC is a centre where an Individual under goes counseling and prepared to undergo testing with Informed choices and helped to live positively and lead responsible life.

WHY V.C.C.T.C? V.C.C.T.C. has Greater role in HIV Prevention and control *By bringing about Responsible behavior Change. *Earlier Care for positive people *Ensures better quality of life.

The Benefits.  Acceptance & Preparedness to Live positively with Positiveness.  Earlier Access to Care and Treatment.  Ability to develop Coping with HIV related issues.  Responsible sexual behavior  Management of opportunistic Infections and prevention.

*Plan Reproductive Life and Infant care. *Emotional Support *Plan for better quality of life through Nutrition,Exercise,Habits etc. *Responsible Social Life.

Where VCCTCs are Located?  Micro biology department of Medical colleges.  State Medical Institutes.  Dist.Head quarter Hospitals  Area Hospitals  Community Health Centres.

Who Visits V.C.C.T.C? * Individuals who have Suspected Risk Behavior and have awareness on HIV/AIDS * High Risk Population referred by partner NGOs.

* Cases referred by Medical Officers of Government and Private hospitals. * Cases referred by Relatives and Friends of the Suspected risk behaviour.

The Process  Pre Test Counselling  During Test Counselling  Post Test Counselling  Follow up Counselling.

Pre Test Counselling Is conducted Before the Blood is drawn for the testing to inform * What the Process Involves *Providing Authentic Information *Clearing Myths and any doubts *Consent of the Patient.

During Test counselling * Reducing the anxiety level * Reducing the mental stress

* Prepare for the Results * Increase the Comfort level *Emotional Support *Partner Intimation *Encourage to Followup Help. Post Test counselling

Counselling Counselling is a Helping Process where a trained Professional Counsellor helps the client to help him/her self by providing various choices.

Principles involved *Acceptance as is condition *Confidentiality *Non Judgemental *Working with clients Phase *Controlled Emotional Behaviour.

Skills Required for counselling *Listening: Careful &Active Listening.No selective or Superficial listening.Proper eye contact.Sitting squarely. Observation: Observing the clients emotions, expressions and body language and mood.

Phara phrasing:Quick sumup & ensure correct understanding Help catharsis: Vent implosions and comfort Empathising : understand the problem from clients point of view.

Identify & discuss various alternatives and choices with the client. Helping client to choose what he feels the best. Follow up Solve and terminate.
