IDHS: Leadership for a Safe and Secure Indiana Goals and Messages To understand the earthquake risk in Indiana and what you can do to prepare Preparing for an earthquake will help you prepare for other disasters

IDHS: Leadership for a Safe and Secure Indiana What Can I Do? We can’t predict earthquakes, but we can reduce their effects by assessing our risks and preparing for them.

IDHS: Leadership for a Safe and Secure Indiana Prepare for an Earthquake Secure heavy items to walls or the floor Place large objects on lower shelves If you rent office space, contact your landlord before making structural changes Back up your data files and documents Have a plan for employees to work at home after the earthquake

IDHS: Leadership for a Safe and Secure Indiana During an Earthquake Get under a large, sturdy piece of furniture and hang onto it because you both can move during an earthquake. Cover your head with your arms - Be ready for aftershocks. If you are outside stay away from power lines, tall buildings, or anything that could possibly fall on you. If you are in a car, drive slowly to a clear location. Make sure nothing is around that could possible to fall on you, and remain in the car.

IDHS: Leadership for a Safe and Secure Indiana After an Earthquake Check for injuries and care for seriously injured. Listen to radio or TV for further instructions.
