Company has Worked Over 750,000 Hours Without a LTI Promotes Safe Work Habits Recognizes Safety Behaviour Enforces a Strong Safety Culture Decreases Injury Frequency Rates Promotes Friendly Rivalry Re-enforces the Company’s Commitment to Safety Encourages Reporting of Incidents/Near Misses

Near Miss reporting has been invisible since the beginning To be a pro-active employer opposed to a reactionary one To support our IRS program Provides positive feedback to our employees Provides a trending factor

Our program is based on rewarding employees on a quarterly basis Worker’s who have not sustained a Medical Aid injury will qualify There will be an instant award for person’s reporting a near miss or demonstrating a safety initiative All person’s who received an instant award will be eligible for a draw on a substantial prize Safety milestones reached by crews and sites will be recognized by Corporate

A 100 dollar voucher at a pre-selected vendor for all employees without a Medical Aid in the quarter The instant award is a 25 dollar Esso gas card The quarterly prize on Sept 30/11 was a 1500 dollar audio/video package

Safety Department will investigate all Near Misses for validity and substance Safety Department will inform Administration of the persons who did not qualify for quarterly award Purchasing will issue a PO to the selected vendor

Previously there were 3 Near Misses reported in a year and a half stemming from 2010 After the program was announced there were 9 legitimate Near Miss reports and 1 safety initiative The Medical Aid frequency is also showing a downward trend

Posters were formatted and circulated on all Near Misses and their potential impact Near Misses were reviewed with all crews Quarterly draw was made and the successful worker was presented with the award in front of his crew/peers Presentation was attended by senior management

It does not take a substantial value of an award to provide the desired outcome There are now approximately 320 pairs of eyes recognizing hazards and reporting them before someone gets hurt "Don't worry when you are not recognized, but strive to be worthy of recognition.“ --Abraham Lincoln
