Task Force on Health - a short update 19th EIONET workshop on AQ assessment Bern 1 October 2014 Frank de Leeuw, Valentin Foltescu ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

WHO-UNECE task force meeting: some highlights Report of TF-Health meeting is available, long-range-transboundary-air-pollution/reports-of-the-task-force-on-health-aspects-of-long-range- transboundary-air-pollution-lrtap here some highlights Recent products: -Burden of disease from ambient air pollution: 3.7M premature deaths globally, in WHO European region ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

WHO-UNECE task force meeting: some highlights Recent products: -Update urban air quality database: PM2.5 concentration in 1600 cities worldwide. European cities mainly based on your data as archived in AirBase (thanks!) /databases/cities/en/ ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

WHO-UNECE task force meeting: some highlights NEWS IARC (International Research Agency on Cancer): the air pollution mixture as well as particulate matter has been classified as carcinogenic to humans. Worldwide 15% of lung cancer deaths is related to air pollution. First steps towards a revision of the WHO AQG. Update should also focus on providing recommendations on exposure reduction and on the benefits for health of improving AQ. Guideline for indoor air quality guidelines for household combustion (to be issued end 2014). ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

Global Burden of Disease ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

Air pollution put into perspective ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

HRAPIE Discussion on HRAPIE recommendations: Is there a save threshold for PM2.5: Canadian study shows impact at concentrations below WHO-AQG Ozone: SOMO35 or SOMO10? Ozone: how important is long-term exposure? NO2 more relevant than previous thought? ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

HRAPIE: update of CBA for air policy Updated report available (Mike Holland): Net health benefits for 2030 ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

Valuation of health care & employers costs ETC/Air Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation
