Objectives and Vocab Students will be able to identify the lost cities of the Indus and describe the Harappan civilizations. Citadel: a strong fortress

Lost Cities of the Indus Harappa; Named for a near-by town, because we didn’t know the people that lived in the ruins. 400 miles south is Mohenjo-Daro the city ruins found and it means “Mound of the Dead.”

Mohenjo-Daro Historians think about 40,000 people may have lived in the city.

Harappan Culture From the first lesson we learned they grew new crops like mustard and black pepper. Historians have gathered most of their knowledge from the ruins. We haven’t broken the code to their writing yet.

Planned Cities Their cities were planned and bricks were standard-sized that made the houses look neat and organized. Houses had toilets Assignment: Questions Page 123 #1-5
