Registered Nurse ◦ Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. ◦ Registered nurses work in hospitals, physicians' offices, home healthcare services, and nursing care facilities. Others work in correctional facilities, schools, or serve in the military.

Radiology Nurse ◦ Radiologic or Imaging Nurses tend to the needs of patients in locations that utilize x-ray, fluoroscopy, angiographic imaging, ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear imaging. This field is especially exciting for those who love technology.

Things Radiology Nurses Do Educate patients and significant others about procedure and post care. Advocate for patients, easing their concerns about treatment. Administer medications, including moderate sedation, as ordered by physician and monitor patient outcomes.

Where do Radiologic Nurses Work ◦ Hospital ◦ Physician’s Office ◦ Outpatient Care Facility

Salaries ◦ The average salary of a radiology nurse varies from state to state and city to city, but most nurses can expect to earn around $56,00. Entry level salary for radiology nurses is a little over $41,000 and more experienced radiology nurses can earn up to $75,000 a year.

Employment Rate ◦ According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, employment of RNs is expected to grow by about 20% from 2008 to this rate of growth is much faster than the average rate of growth for all occupations.

Education Requirements ◦ A student must attend an Associate degree or Bachelor of Science in nursing degree program ◦ Pass the National Council of Licensure Exam ◦ Work on medical surgery unit for a year to gain experience ◦ Apply for a job as a Radiology Nurse
