UNIT 1  MAIN OBJECTIVE: Introduction to CLIL historical background and its rapid widespread around Europe and Spain

UNIT 1 Some notes about history: In the 18th and 19th centuries the children from governesses employed, aristocratic families and wealthy commoners contributed to their pupils' acquisition of foreign language competences using their native tongue, French, to instruct the children.

UNIT 1 Each Europen citizen must be able to speak at least two languages of the Union in addition to his/her native tongue. ( Language policy department from EU )

UNIT Many names for CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning): “Generic term to describe all types of provision in which a second language (a foreign, regional or minority language and/or another official state language) is used to teach certain subjects in the curriculum other than the language lessons themselves”. (Marsh & Langé 2002 & Eurydice 2006: 8)

UNIT 1 SOME OBSTACLES: - Subject teachers may be unwilling to take on the responsibility.(Lack of language)(Bilingual subject instruction is based on the principles of school subject didactics) -The lack of CLIL teacher-training programmes suggests that the majority of teachers working on bilingual programmes may be ill-equipped to do the job adequately. -There is little evidence to suggest that understanding of content is not reduced by lack of language competence. - Some aspects of CLIL are unnatural.

UNIT VALENCIAN COMMUNITY PROJECTS PRIMARY Order 30th of June 1998 sets PEBE since first degree (DOGV 14th July 1998) -Introduce foreign language as vehicular since 1st level PREPRIMARY Resolution 30th of July 2008, sets plurilingual programme (DOGV 21st August 2008) -Introduce foreign language since 4 years old.

UNIT 1  HOW MANY INPUT CAN HAVE OUR PUPILS? -In the kindergarten:. 3 session each of them of 30 minutes in a week. -In Primary:. 1st cycle: 2 sessions in English per week.. 2nd cycle and 5th level: 3 sessions in English per week.. 6th level: 4 sessions in English per week. One subject, one part of the subject in CLIL.
