What is Torfaen Voluntary Alliance?  TVA is the County Voluntary Council for Torfaen  Registered Charity  Company Limited by Guarantee  Overseen by an Executive Board  An Investors in People (IIP) organisation Our Mission Statement: Torfaen Voluntary Alliance values and actively supports the contribution of individuals and groups through voluntary action

TVA Membership  Membership ranges from small local community groups, ‘umbrella’ groups to national organisations – huge scope!  Currently over 600 members and growing  Cover the whole of Torfaen  TVA is wholly inclusive

Education and Learning  Torfaen Voluntary Alliances encompasses and encourages education and learning as a core principle of our work in the community.  All aspects of sustainability are supported through business planning, social enterprises, fundraising.  Workshops, courses and one to one support is available from TVA  Education and learning will be supported by our continued work with Torfaen Adult Learning Partnership and the joint venture between ourselves and the Workers Education Association which has the only Third Sector Learning Action Centre in South East Wales, which is based in Blaenavon  TVA staff are provided with the appropriate training in compliance with the Investors In People standard ensuring that all our services are delivered in a professional manner.

Summary  The Welsh Assembly Government advocates the full inclusion of the Third Sector in the development of strategic partnerships  TVA is the umbrella organisation and the nominated representative for the Third Sector in Torfaen  TVA has the additional remit to provide practical and administrative support services  TVA is required to effectively deliver its core services to the Sector as a whole and member organisations. Totally supporting the Corporate Strategy of Torfaen  TVA ensures effective management and development of our volunteer centre  Torfaen Voluntary Alliance provides appropriate assistance to ensure the sustainability of voluntary and community groups who provide invaluable support services to the statutory authorities and other agencies
