Search Committee Your pastor has recently left for a new ministry and you have been assigned to the search committee to find a new pastor. Your first job is to develop a job description based on 1 st Timothy and Titus.

Potential Pastoral Candidate The candidate is a young man (29 years old) who is not yet married (he is currently dating a young woman, but their relationship is still in the early stages). Although he has only been a Christian for five years, he has just completed his seminary training. Early in his Christian walk, he sensed that God was leading him into the pastoral ministry, and he has never wavered in that sense of calling since then. He is a very bright person, a man who seems to know his Bible and theology well. He is also quite a dynamic preacher.

Potential Pastoral Candidate He seems to have strong leadership qualities, knowing where a church should go and encouraging others to rally behind him in getting there. Though he is nice person, he does not have a “warm” personality, a personality that places people at ease in a one-on-one setting. That is, although he might not intend to do this, you could imagine him inadvertently intimidating some people in one-on-one setting. In fact, while he enjoys preaching and working with groups of people, he seems to be something of an introvert, particularly in settings with individuals.

Potential Pastoral Candidate He seems to be a very disciplined individual, and he appears to have a steady, self-controlled demeanor. He is a hard worker, presently holding down a full time job as well as two part time jobs. And those who know him well seem to think highly of him.
