What are trade unions? Use these terms in your definition: Association Improvement Collective bargaining Industrial action

Trade union, or labour union: an association of labourers created for the purpose of securing improvements in pay, benefits, working conditions, rules governing hiring and firing, or social and political status through collective bargaining or industrial action.

Types of labour unions: general, craft, industrial union A union composed only of people in the same craft/ skill. A union to which all the workers of a particular industry can belong regardless of their occupation or trade (e.g., automotive industry).
