OUR ECONOMY How is it distributed?

How it was organized? It was about the self-sufficiency of their needs (people), like: corn, potato, beans and pumpkins. Also hunting, fishing and mining.

Money… In 1778 the coin was made of copper. In 1880 the National bank was stablished. In 1885 appeared the paper money. In 1923 Banco de la republica was created and in 1991 it was stablished as the maximum monetary authority. The monetary unit of Colombia is: peso.

And now? It has been classified such as an emerging economy, even having problems with the drugs, and the guerrilla armed forces. It has achieved to attract the foreign investment, in total 250% in investment since It has several sectors of national production like: coffee, petroleum, emeralds, flower growing, agriculture, gold, sapphire, diamonds, carbon, the textil industry and natural gas.

Agriculture In the colony the dominant sector of economy was the corn, because the native people grew it. From the corn another farmings were diversified, farmings of: potato, yucca, tobacco, cocoa, anise and banana. The agricultural sector has 3 kinds of goods: Food 70% Raw material 22% Ornamental products 8%

Export - Import In the past Colombia was self-sufficient in the supply of alimentary products, but it was so expensive, so in 1991 a lot of products were imported, many companies were closed. Also coffee, banana, flowers and sugar were exported.
